Six Coaching Skills for successful online meetings

It starts with mutual trust and respect, because you will only receive what you give. Then follows focus on personal development, insights driven human growth. After that comes focus on asking questions to trigger thinking processes. Succeeded by actionable advice, which means a clear breakdown of next steps towards actionable results. Then comes coaching by teaching theories to give next steps, model based structure basically. To conclude, we focus on clarification of next steps, so that there is ownership for the agreed actions.

How to give team members coaching theories that make a difference

In a rapidly moving world where so many of our day-to-day activities are now online, it has become essential to adapt coaching processes in order to better suit clients’ circumstances and needs. Above all, clients want sustainable and time-efficient results. Electronic coaching (e-coaching) is an inevitable development for every professional who coaches, mentors, teaches, supervises, guides or helps people in their jobs.

Coaching theories, in literal terms is referred to as an 'Analogy'. Researchers say that a critical aspect of an effective analogy is that the two areas of comparison are superficially different. For example, stating that an atom is like a miniature solar system or that a database is like a filing cabinet.

This is because analogies are non-literal comparisons. They highlight one or more points of similarity between two very different things. They help learners construct new mental models by transferring knowledge from a known domain to an unknown domain

How to give team members coaching theories that make a difference

Yes! It's true that coaching theories or analogies are found in abundance and aren't confined to a set or them but rather can be evolved through the experience of each of the person.

1) The coach must include Coaching Theories

to simply avoid any confusions the coachees might have related to a topic.

2) Coaching Theories must address the question asked

and should definitely have either a metaphorical or a straight answer.

3) To Ensure acceptability on the part of the learner

you must include coaching theories as this suggests that the question is not new and is preceded by many before it hence the coaching theory. This way the coachee receives a comfortable feel.

In essence it's about helping participants by providing them with Coaching Theories

Coaching Theories aren’t a cure for everything. Research shows they can cause learners to create incorrect mental models. Valid theories are a good teaching tool that aids comprehension. Poor theories however, may cause more problems than no theory at all. Which is why the above mentioned 3 steps must be kept in mind while coaching online: The coach must include Coaching Theories, Coaching Theories must address the question asked, and To Ensure acceptability on the part of the learner.
